IDYD Field Fellow Program


The Idaho Young Democrats (IDYD) are seeking applicants for our 2018 Field Fellow Program for the upcoming midterm elections.

The ideal candidate will be committed to affecting change in red states, have an interest in performing the duties of a field program, is goal oriented, eager to learn, interested in making phone calls, door knocking, and recruiting and assisting volunteers!


IDYD Field Fellows will be responsible for assisting the Idaho Democratic Party’s (IDP) Field Organizers in implementing their field plan in key targeted districts across the state and will report directly to IDP’s Field Director. The program will run for 12 weeks (Mid-September, through November 6, 2018). Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Help implement a field plan in a targeted district

  • Manage, recruit, and retain volunteers, and ensure their environment is welcoming and their expectations are being met.

  • Place phone calls into targeted voting districts, conducting political surveys.

  • Learn the voter database known as VAN (Votebuilder)

  • Assist in turnout and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with supportive Democrats, progressive organizations, and community leaders.


  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.

  • High levels of organization and task management.

  • Verbal and written communications skills.

  • Ability to make cold calls.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recruit, train, and manage campaign volunteers doing several different types of voter contact.

  2. Execute a field plan for voter contact with the objective of turning voters out, and electing more Democrats in November.

The fellowship is part-time, 20 hours a week at $15 an hour on a contractor basis.
