Start an IDYD Chapter

Ready to bring Young Democrats to your school or community? Starting a chapter is one of the most powerful ways to build the Democratic bench in Idaho and we're here to help you every step of the way.

Recruit Your Founding Members

Every chapter starts with a core group of motivated people. Reach out to classmates, coworkers, or community members who are passionate about progressive values and want to get involved locally. You'll want at least 5–10 committed founding members before moving forward, people who will show up, spread the word, and help your chapter grow.

Tip: Social media, campus bulletin boards, town halls, and word of mouth are all great ways to find your people.

Register Your Chapter

Once you have a founding group, it's time to make it official. To register your chapter with Idaho Young Democrats, you'll need to:

  • Host a meeting

  • Designate a chapter president, vice president, and treasurer

Complete our chapter registration form

After your registration is reviewed, you'll receive official recognition and access to resources, training, and support from the state organization.

*If you're forming a chapter at a college or high school, you'll also need to register as an official student organization through your institution. Check with your student activities office for their specific requirements.

Chapter in a Box

Everything you need to launch your chapter, all in one place. Our Chapter in a Box guide walks you through the full process from recruiting your first members to running your first meeting.
